Down South on the Texas Coast

We had a nice little va-ca down south to the Texas Coast.  We love it down there!  Pake was going with the school for Texas State Skills USA, so we decided to tag along.

The first day we went bay fishing. But, we are almost as interested in the sights we see in the Corpus Christi Bay as the fish we catch.  The oil rigs and ships and cranes are so BIG and so cool!

But the fish we catch are pretty cool too!  This is a BIG Bad BLACK drum.

We used these crab for bait.

Tater Jack hooked a big one too!

He put up a pretty good fight!

He was almost as big as TATE!

He also made this cool drumming sound... I'm guessing that's where his name comes from... Ok, ok I know blonde moment but I really never knew this. He really does make a drum sound.... it was cool, really...
guess you had to be there lol

Kerry Don caught a big one too!

Not really, he just caught this cute little red fish!
Shhhh don't tell him we revealed that he had the smallest catch of the day.

So here are some of the THS guys on the trip.... we took them for a ride on the ferry over to Port A!

We love Port A and we love the CrAzY Cajun... but you probably already knew that ;)

The kids dug right in and they especially loved the snow crab legs!

They loved the beach too!

Tate, KD & I also toured the Lexington, a retired aircraft carrier.

It was way neat, checking out all the planes up on the deck.

and the inside of the ship too!  Pake and his crew had taken the hard hat tour.  They said it was very interesting as they went down into parts of the ship that aren't open to the regular tours.  Wish I had pictures of that crew but I don't.  I do have more pictures of the Skill USA guys and their project and I will share those soon!
