Easter

Easter at the Backwards K is always large.  This year we decided to have both my family and KD's.  It was a great time.  I'm kinda mad at myself for not getting more pictures, but I did get a few shots of the cute Easter Egg hunters.

Scout, Kaitlyn and Cimarron Adams (no they aren't twins, but they're cute huh?) and Mr. Reno

Reno really wasn't too worried about the egg hunting, but look out next year!

Tater is almost too big (his Mama is having a hard time admitting this) but he had to get in the middle of the hunting too!  KD and his brothers fried up some fish and it was delicious if I must say so myself.

LaRue and Mary Beth we missed yall!

Rowdy Raccoons

The boys got lucky the other night.  While spot lighting, they came up on a couple raccoons.

Pake called having a fit, said they needed some help because they had two raccoons held up in a culvert.  We loaded up to get in on the excitement.  When we got there, Pake had the Scout parked on top of the culvert.  Pake had his gun sticking out on his side and Bray had his out on the otherside.  Maxie's ear were perked up in the back and of course Tate was waving the spotlight all over the place.  It was a funny sight to see.   KD shot into the culvert with some bird shot, that scared them out and Pake and Bray each shot one with their .22s. Talk about some excited boys!  Talk about some stinky raccoons!  And yes of course they put them in my freezer.....  welcome to my life!

rOcKs and more rOcKs

It's been a while y'all and I apologize.... been BUSY, BUSY!  I also apologize for this post because my pictures didn't load in the right order and I can't fix it with out starting over and frankly my dears today I don't give a... oh never mind I'm in hurry because I'm BUSY!  lol
Well I wanted ROCKS and FINALLY after a year of asking, KD loaded up the crew and we went to the ranch and got ROCKS!  I wanted really big rocks, but rocks are heavy! I know yall didn't know that but they are REAL heavy.  The little John Deere picked up some pretty nice rocks though and now they're in my yard and that makes me happy.  Who knew rocks like this could make a girl soooooo happy?  I told KD at least I'm into these rocks and not the kind that go on your finger ;)

This is really the rock I want in my yard but I think we'd have to move the house!
Peace love and rOcKs

Chalkboard paint is COOL

I had this idea to paint the garage cabinet doors with chalkboard paint.  They were just plain ole white dirty doors and quite frankly well, they were boring.

After washing, taping, priming, and 2 coats, I was in LOVE!

Now, anyone can put their 2-cents on the doors and if I don't like it, I can erase it!

Y'all come see us and you can write anything you like.... Well almost anything!

the BIG black mystery CAT

Well this time I don't have any pictures, but I have a story to tell y'all.  I bring this story to you from stories a few other individuals have told me.  This is not made up, it's true.  I promise.

The story begins on one foggy Saturday night around midnight at a house about 1/4 mile from our house.  This kid I know (aka Hunter O) let his doggies out to take care of their business.  As he was waiting on Bevo and Bama, he noticed something in his circle drive.  He took a second look and saw that it was black.  BLACK?  Yes Black!  It was about 3 foot tall and turned and looked at him.  His eyes glowed YELLOW.  Now, this kid started to shake!  The last thing he saw was a tail, a LONG BLACK tail!  It didn't take him long to get back in the house, so he could go sleep with his Mamma! The next day his Momma, told me the story and I will admit I was skeptical.  I thought oh he saw a stray dog or something.  Or it was late and dark and foggy.  Hunter continued to insist, "I know what I saw!"

Three nights later, 3 friends of ours came out to visit for a bit.  When they came through the door, their eyes were HUGE and they said, "Y'all will never believe what we just saw!"  To back up a minute too, they had no prior knowledge of Hunter's sighting.  Anyway, as they drove down our road, they saw something very similar to what Hunter had described.  It was almost waist tall, BIG, black, and had yellow eyes and a long tail, plus it moved like a cat.  They slammed on the brakes and shined the headlights in the trees, but it was gone!  The guys went back with a spot light to see if they could see anything, but of course they had no luck.

So what is it?  A panther?  A black mountain lion?  We really don't know.... Come to find out there have been black cats spotted before around here.  We haven't seen him since and we really doubt we ever will.... BUT it's sorta scary to think, he could be roaming around!  Anyway, that's the story and that's about the most excitement we've had around here.

My Baby Sis

My baby sis came to visit!  Of course, Pake had to take us for a ride in the Scout.

Scout says, "Hey when I get big can I have the Scout?
But please, please paint it a different color for me!"

We had to show them the GIANT cross built at Roll-A-Cone.  I think it's like 40 feet tall and I think y'all will be seeing it soon, somewhere near Happy.

Tia Tandy and some cute punks.

I love how Reno is cheesing!  Scout on the other hand is soo serious!

It just happened to be someone's birthday.  Instead of a traditional cake, I made strawberry and chocolate cake balls and chocolate covered strawberries.  I wish I'd never learned to make cake balls, they're not any good!  Seriously they're horrible.

Not really, I'm totally joking, they're too good!  I just can't make them too often because I can't stop eating them.... just saying.

Pake's Project

Pake inherited some new wheels, well actually they're pretty old, but he's proud of them!
Of course, the old '77 Scout II needed a make over!

He stripped it down and sanded it.

There were some rust spots and dents, but for now we're not going to worry too much about them!

We all helped with the taping.

We left the painting to the professional.
Cream colored you say?  Why?

Are you shocked yet?  Camoflauge?  Pake's hunting rig had to be CAMO!
Pake put it all back together all by himself.  I think it turned out pretty neat.  Not your typical camo, but it definitely fits the landscape of our area! Yes, he drives it.   His Momma worries, but so far he's a very safe driver!  Come see us and you can go rabbit hunting with Pake (if your into that sorta thing).

Redneck Sledding

Y'all won't believe what these punks have been up to!  Nope I bet y'all won't! What?  Really?
Nothing surprises y'all anymore?!  I know I'm not easily surprised either!

They've been sledding again. And let me tell y'all, they have a new improved redneck sled.
Actually, I'm not sure if you call this a sled or a farm chemical tote with a hole cut out of the back.

It works pretty good though.  Especially when your Dad pulls you behind a RZR about 20 miles an hour in a circle.

Then, he drug them down into the pit.

Y'all see the smile on K Dawg's face?  It puts a smile on my face too!

You can just barely see the punks.
What you can't see is the pile of blankets they have in there for cushion.

Have I mentioned that it was just a tad chilly....

Here you can't even see the sled.... he drove beside the pit just close enough to sling them down in there.   They never flipped... just turned over one time!  Whew.  We love to play in the snow and we're so thankful for the moisture!

The Stairs

The stairs at my house always seem to be the main attraction.  I've caught the kids sliding down the stairs on a pillow with a mountain of pillows for the landing... I know once a kid jumped from the top stair to the bottom. I know they've slid, fell, skied, rolled, tumbled, jumped, leaped, coasted, glided, skipped, & skated down the stairs.  They've driven every remote contol vehicle they've ever had down the stairs.  More importantly these are just the things that I know about.... no telling what they've done when I wasn't around.  But last night I saw something I've never seen before.
Yes I know a stair step of kids.  We actually didn't have enough steps for kids... they had to take turns.

And they made a game out of it, using my big red workout ball. (good thing someone's getting some use out of that ball, because I sure haven't)

They were having a ball, laying on the stairs rolling that ball down and then passing it back up.

Pretty soon they had an audience.

I don't think I've lauged that hard or heard so much laughter in a long time.

Yall come see us and you can play on the stairs too!
